Dr Andrew Walters
Andrew has been with the Defence department as a scientist for almost 17 years, working for the Defence Science and Technology Group. He is currently leading a team of researchers focusing on how to achieve information interoperability (exchange and use) for frontline respondents towards an enhanced common situational understanding. Prior to this, Andrew has worked on a wide range of research areas including the development of computational methods for predicting the electromagnetic effects on military aircraft, mitigating ship-Air electromagnetic integration risks for the Navy, aircraft lightning strike research and developing electromagnetic compatibility test methodologies for whole aircraft. Prior to his DST Group employment, Andrew graduated from the Flinders University of South Australia in 2002 with a PhD in Nuclear and Particle Physics, with his thesis based on neutrino mass investigations.
